Pure Fashion: The Damier Azur speedy 35
The Damier canvas is actually one of the oldest Louis Vuitton motifs there are. To trace the history of the Damier Azur Speedy 35, you have to go all the way back to 1888 when the first Damier designs appeared on various trunks and carry on bags, created by Louis Vuitton himself. The canvas was reintroduced on an entire new line of handbags in 1996. Ten years later, in 2006 Marc Jacobs introduced a new color scheme for the geometric two tone canvas: Azur.
The Azur Canvas
Named for the deep color of a clear blue sky, the Azur canvas is actually a cream and grey pattern with a slight hint of blue. The Damier Azur Speedy 35 is one of the original designs from the new 2006 collection. It is one of the most successful LV iconic designs in this new canvas, and has been taken up by many celebrities and fashionistas as the new look for the Speedy 35. Something in the shape of the 35 makes it a perfect spring and summer look, and particularly a beach bag, which is very well suited to the Azur canvas. On the yacht, on the beach, on the boardwalk, in the tropics, in an English garden, lounging in the grass on a summer's day in Central parkāall easily imagined scenarios with this purse.
